Luma9T, serial number 1 Luma9T, serial number 1

ApPhysics, LLC

Our first new product, in two versions, has been released.

The new product is the Luma9T.  What is the Luma9T?  It is an advanced high-intensity LED illuminator.  Useful for a wide range of applications from mood lighting of a room to illumination of storefronts for catching the eyes of potential customers, the Luma9T uses high-power large-die LED arrays.

The Luma9T allows the end user to easily select the kind of illumination desired using a simple remote control.  Our introductory product allows illumination in red, blue, green, cyan, magenta, yellow, orange, and two intensities of white.

Additionally, you can define a time sequence of colors to use as illumination, up to 50 repeating colors long.  The speed at which the colored illumination changes color is under user control.

The Luma9T operates on 12 volts AC, available with our power transformer add-on or for attachment to your existing 12-volt outdoor lighting transformer.  Future units will operate from 11 volts to 60 volts AC (50 and above Hz) or DC.

Light up your life with the Luma9T.

Although the manufacturer's suggested retail price is $415, ApPhysics is offering the Luma9T at an introductory price of $380 for a limited time.  Dealer inquiries are welcome.

One more thing.  I have been asked what the difference is between the Luma9T series is and other offerings that makes it stand out.  Have a look at our "products" page to see why it makes a difference to design a product from the multidisciplinary physics viewpoint and from the simpler engineering viewpoint.

Luma9T Evolving to Luma9T-W, a Weatherproof Illuminator

At the request of an installer of outdoor lighting, ApPhysics has undertaken the conversion of the Luma9T illuminator to an outdoor and weatherproof version, the Luma9T-W.

The Luma9T-W operates the same way as the Luma9T but it is weatherproof against the roughest weather.  ApPhysics has  released the Luma9T-W.  The price is $515.

You can see the Luma9T-W in operation at the front office of the Ebbtide Resort at 300 Briny Avenue, Pompano Beach, Florida.  Their website is www.ebbtideresort.com and their facility is beautiful, well-kept, run by very attentive staff and is located on one of the nicest stretches of the beach in South Florida.

Luma9T-W Prototype Luma9T-W Prototype

Here it is.  The Luma9T-W is the weatherproof version of the Luma9T.  The Luma9T-W (and the Luma9T) generates enough light to illuminate a 30-foot tall palm tree at night when fitted with the proper aiming lens, available from ApPhysics.  The photo was taken in a room lit by an open window in daylight.

Photos of the installation at Ebbtide will be available the first week of November 2010.  Last night it rained torrentially and, though the Luma9T-W survived handily through it, I was unable to set up to photograph it.

This is the Luma9T-W installed at the Ebbtide Resort in Pompano Beach, Florida.  The photo was taken after the unit was in place for two days, and was exposed to a lengthy torrential rainstorm before these were taken.

The illuminated objects are a Koi pond and waterfall at the far end in the shadow of a pond plant.  Prior to installation of the Luma9T-W, the pond was a showpiece only in the daytime.  At night it was in pitch dark.  The white fence in the background helps the Luma9T-W illuminate the general area, making it a very pleasant place to enjoy South Florida's beautiful fall evenings.

This is the pond being illluminated with the color green selected.  On the right-hand side of this page, ApPhysics has added a small gallery with each of the Luma9T-W's available colors (future software upgrades will allow user-definable palettes of color) shown.

The Ebbtide has elected to use the Luma9T-W in the "play sequence" mode, which changes color every 30 minutes.  This mode may be stopped at any time and a single color selected.  Pressing "play" on the remote control restarts the sequence.
